Shooting from the sideline | Warrnambool & District football netball league
Curtis Finch

I grew up in Warrnambool, Victoria, where I completed VCE. My passion for photography began in 2021 when I borrowed camera from my high school. Between then and finishing Year 12, I spent countless hours with my camera shooting wherever and whatever I could across Warrnambool.

As my passion for photography grew, I began to find my niche - sports photography. Freelancing at every opportunity I was given, Curtis Finch Photography first began gaining recognition from the local football scene across the Warrnambool region, capturing moments for both individuals and local clubs. I then continued to expand my craft and business, shooting a wider variety of sports, in the likes of motosports, surfing, tennis ect. Throughout high-school I was given multiple opportunities to share and get recognition for my work, beginning in 2023 a local football image was awarded via voting to win a photo competition ran by the Warrnambool City Council. Shortly after another local football photograph caught the AFL's attention, which was later sold to them to advertise the game at a grassroots level.

As of 2025 I relocated to Melbourne, growing my connections and pushing my craft as a photographer.

I spent a lot of 2025 shooting VFL football and attending as many AFL open trainings as I could, whilst building a portfolio of commercial photo and video. Since 2026 I am continuing to build my creative knowledge in the direction of sports and commercial photography.
